I read this when I was a kid and I liked it.
I reread it because I found it sitting on my desk one day, which sounds a lot more magical than it really was. But for the sake of keeping things whimsical, I will not explain how it got there.
Surprisingly enough, I enjoyed the story more this time around. It's just very nostalgic. And I like nostalgic books.

One thing I really liked was how the ending wasn't all glittery and perfect.
It was down-to-earth, realistic and slightly bittersweet.

The good-guys aren't perfect, and you may even question their motives. But they are very teen-ish, and that was the plan.
The bad-guys are rotten but something stops them from being clichéd. Biassedness on my half, mayhap.

It's worth a read.
