If my family planned a trip to DC when I was little, this book would have been necessary reading material. However, this awesome MICHIGAN press hadn't yet started its ABC-story-for-every-topic-ever-created binge. Heck, it hadn't even published its first (and my favorite) book, The Legend of Sleeping Bear.
I groaned when I saw this on the new book shelf, convinced it was a collaboration founded merely on the aspirations of crazy profits at Smithsonian museum stores (I certainly would have wanted to pick up a copy there. If my family had been so cruel and shortsighted to not get me one before our trip began).
The writing and rhyming is a bit cumbersome (rhyming Tin Lizzie is a formidable task), but I still learned a ton and am now dying to return to the nation's capital. (Last time, I went for 2.5 days and walked around museums until I literally could walk no further)
